NaNoWriMo 2008 - Complete!
This was a triumph! I’m making a note here: huge success!

I have completed the challenge I set forth for myself, completing this year’s National Novel Writing Month. In 25 days I was able to crank out 50,000 words and tell and interesting story. I set a personal goal to stay ahead of the curve and write 2,000 words a day, and for the most part I stuck with that. I did take a few days off here and there due to the pure exhaustion of jet lag from my trip to Orlando and other real-life obstacles, but in the end I completed the task and completed it early.
So now I can say with all honesty and sincerity that I am now a writer, author, and novelist. Granted, I am far from being part of the inner circle of esteemed published authors, but I know with enough hard work on my rough draft that I will be able to include myself in that group of people at some point in time. Time and effort make for success.
Thanks to my friends and family both in real life and online who put up with my absence this month as I locked myself in my office to fervently write each day after work, and most of the day on the weekends. It was a thrilling experience and I look forward to editing the manuscript after taking some well-deserved time off.
I’ve been getting a lot of requests from people who want to read the novel, and you will get your chance. But right now the book is like a block of marble. It is complete in its size and the shape has been cut enough that you can see what it will eventually be, but now it is time for me to come in with my precision instruments and whittle away at it to make it a magnificent sculpture. Only when it is near its completion will I let people read the story.
I will say this: The working title is The Corundum and it is a story about normal people thrust into some very abnormal situations. It is a story filled with reality and magic, set in both modern times and a fantasy world very similar to our own. It is very much a tale of good versus evil and the power of friendship.
As I start editing the story, I may post tidbits here and there to introduce characters or plot ideas and solicit feedback from you guys. So keep watching!
