I haven’t been too big on updates in the past several days because I’ve been swamped at work, and so has Lori. Our free time, which exists only in the stuff of legend, has been reserved for sleeping, watching anime, and getting caught up on Transformers: Energon episodes.
Lori has had a rough couple of weeks as they have just finished their annual project gearing up for open benefits enrollment. That means she’s been working late hours and even on the weekends. She works hard for the money, ba dum ba dum.
I haven’t been working as hard, but I have been pretty darn busy. We’re gearing up to become a national ISP instead of a statewide ISP, so I’ve been busy getting some programming done to facilitate the move of our current customers to new dial-up numbers. On top of that I’ve been handling some weird MS SQL Server 2000 problems and trying to finish up some customer work as well.
At home I’ve been working with my friend Steve on a side project. We’re coming up with a CMS (content management system) for local churches so they don’t have to learn HTML to edit their pages. In fact, the product feels a lot like Blogger but with a focus on pages instead of blog entries, and a real WYSIWYG editor (and a spell checker, w00t!) instead of the weird one that Blogger provides. We call it the “GraceWorks CMS” and the name of the site is “GraceWorks By Design”. Steve has a LOT of people interested in it and it will be nice for a little extra money.
On the anime front we finally picked up the third Slayer series, Slayers: Try. I’m a big fan of Lina Inverse and Gourry Gabriev (although the OVA episodes with Naga the Serpent are pretty cool too). We got the special “import” version that is subtitled only and on 3 discs instead of the US release with a dubbed track and 4 discs. There’s a really cool anime shop in Fayetteville called Realms Anime that sells all sorts of cheap DVD’s of dubious origin. Good stuff. We also picked up the second volume of the Saiyuki soundtrack. I love being an Otaku geek.
That’s about it here. I’ll have more to report later when I have a chance to rest from all the work.
